There are 56 facets to a round-cut diamond...

And that is what makes it sparkle.

I love when people sparkle. You never know what they are going through, what they have been through, or what they will go through, but when a person realizes their experiences are perfectly designed for them to help them achieve their full potential, they sparkle and it is contagious.

I recently got married and I love my wedding ring. (In fact, it is one of my top two favorite possessions, along with a wooden chest my dad made.) I can't imagine ever losing it. But one day as I was entering the locker room at Utah Valley University for my gym class, I noticed a hand-written note taped to the side of the entrance. It announced a missing engagement ring of great sentimental value, lost that afternoon.

My heart dropped.

After class, I spent a few minutes searching the locker room with silent prayers that this girl would find her precious ring.

Nothing.

Well, I know that what is important to us is important to God.

I kept her in my prayers, wondering from time to time what had happened.

Then, on the April 11, 2011 edition of the UVU Review, I read a full page article about the ring. It was found and the girl was able to wear it on her wedding day.

I got a little teary-eyed as I read that what overwhelmed her the most was not finding the ring, but the people involved. She said that she would see people searching outside the building in the grass for it, she would receive calls of support and comfort- people letting her know they were praying for her.

I was not involved in this experience much at all, but I was grateful to have had the opportunity to know about it, feel for this girl and learn how much others care. It was a small experience, but one that gave many people the chance to feel connected in human love.
